When David Lynch's film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me hitting theaters in 1992, it was not well-reviewed. The poor reception of the film overshadowed everything that was attached to information technology, including the musical score by Angelo Badalamenti. The song is a boring, dreamy number. Cruise's etherial vocalism floats amongst shifting layers of soft keys. (Prowl clearly liked the song equally the rail fabricated another advent in 1993 on Cruise's 2nd solo album, The Voice of Love.)
"The Pink Room" floats on the hazy shade of a meandering, psychedelic, spy-guitar groove. Deep strings moan alongside the hallucinatory static. He sort of speak-raps lines like, "That one-time air current / Is howling like a cold steel train / Daughter has left me / Not comin' dorsum once again." It sounds juvenile compared to the rest of the album. "The Black Canis familiaris Runs at Night", meanwhile, sees Badalamenti proverb the title over and over while loose bass strings skid and teeter inconsistently. It sounds less like a fully realized composition and more like a drunken outtake.
The packaging and presentation is beautiful. Death-Waltz congenital this equally a companion piece to Twin Peaks - Original Score, which they released in Baronial of 2016. Both albums are housed in similar packaging. The outer jacket is die-cutting in a zig-zag pattern, Twin Peaks - Original Score in matte white while Fire Walk with Me is matte black.
